Interactive WebBook
HTML, CSS, Javascript, PoetryDB API

Poems of the Weather is a web-based interactive experience that combines literature, animation, and atmospheric design. Each page reveals a weather-themed poem accompanied by ambient sound, visual effects, and fluid typography — inviting readers into a meditative exploration of nature and emotion.

Concept

This project was inspired by the quiet poetry of nature and the emotional resonance of weather. I wanted to build a space where readers could pause and reflect, where poems feel like passing clouds — visual, auditory, and ephemeral. The flipping book invites quiet exploration — each turn reveals a weather-inspired poem. Like moving through nature’s shifting moods, the act of turning becomes a gentle way to experience rain, sun, or wind in words and motion.

Interaction Flow

•  Book Flip
When you flip the page to the right, the site generates a new weather-themed poem using the PoetryDB API. If you flip back to the left, you’ll see the poem that was generated earlier — it doesn’t change, allowing you to revisit past feelings and moments.

•  Animated Typography
Each poem visually reflects the weather it describes — on rainy pages, words fall gently like raindrops; on windy ones, they drift in from the side as if carried by the breeze. These weather-driven animations invite readers to feel the atmosphere of the poem, not just read it — blending meaning and motion into a sensory experience.

 Ambient Sound
Weather-specific ambient audio (e.g., thunder, wind, soft rain) plays subtly in the background, synced to the poem's theme.
